1 escapes death as car falls off Lagos bridge

A yet-to-be-identified man has escaped death as a Toyota Camry car fell off the bridge at Anthony-Oke on Sunday.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the incident happened at about 7:30 am on Sunday.

A video on the official X handle of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority revealed some of the car’s damage and a pan house partially destroyed when the car fell off the bridge.

Speaking in an interview with PUNCH Metro, the Public Relations Officer, LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, said that the driver of the Toyota Camry with the registration number, SMK-43MO drove recklessly, which caused the vehicle to fall over the bridge and land in a ditch at Anthony inwards Oshodi.

Taofiq said “It was a Toyota Camry car with registration number SMK-43 MO that fell off the bridge. He was moving from Anthony-Oke inwards Oshodi. He was competing with other vehicles on the road and swapped the steering from the other side and, as a result, he fell off from the bridge and landed inside a ditch.

He added that the victim had minor bruises and that the car had been evacuated off the road to reduce traffic congestion.

“Immediately the incident happened, he called one or two of his friends, and they quickly arranged a towing vehicle to evacuate the vehicle off the road. However, he sustained injuries on some parts of his body.

“Policemen from Anthony visited the place and LASTMA officials assisted in removing the vehicles to prevent gridlock on the road. Motorists should be careful when driving to avoid frequent accidents on the road.” (Punch)
