2 dead as truck crushes Okada plying ‘‘one-way’’ in Lagos (Channels)

Two persons have died after a truck crushed a motorcycle plying one-way by Barracks Bus-stop inward Iyana-Iba along Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) disclosed this in a statement on Saturday by its Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq.

He said LASTMA operatives recovered the bodies trapped under an empty long ‘Man-Diesel’ truck by Barracks Bus-stop along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Lagos. Read more

Three people were confirmed dead in an accident involving two vehicles at Kara bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Sunday.

Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson, Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.

Akinbiyi explained that the incident occurred at 1:20am, adding that it involved a blue Iveco truck marked AAB 414 ZY and a white Toyota Cabster with registration number XUR 601 XY. Read more

Truck kills 1, injures 3 on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway (Guardian)

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACEC) said an articulated vehicle crushed a man to death while three others were injured in an accident at Toll-Gate, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Saturday.

Mr Adekunle Ajibade, South-West Area Commander of TRACEC, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun, on Saturday that the incident occurred at about 5.06 a.m.

Ajibade explained that the vehicle with registration no. XA356 ALD coming from Sango-Ota to Lagos, lost control due to speeding and rammed into four persons waiting to board a bus at Toll-Gate. Read more

Edun to head Tinubu’s social investment review panel (Leadership)

Sequel to President Bola Tinubu’s six-week suspension of the four programmes under the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA), President Tinubu has approved the establishment of a Special Presidential Panel which will be led by the coordinating minister of the economy and  minister of finance, Mr. Wale Edun.

According to a statement by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the special presidential panel is tasked with immediately undertaking a comprehensive review and audit of existing financial frameworks and policy guidelines of the social investment programmes with a view to implementing a total re-engineering of the financial architecture of the programmes with detailed modification to procedures guiding the programmes’ implementation moving forward.

He said; “The Special Presidential Panel which is comprised of ministers representing strategic sectors and will ensure a multi-disciplinary approach to the reform effort, is made up of the following members: Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance – chairman; Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare-member; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning-member; Minister of Information and National Orientation – member; Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy – member; Minister of State for Youth – member. The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has established Kano Elders Council (KEC) to serve as an advisory body to the government of Kano State.
