2 friends docked for allegedly receiving 11 stolen chickens

Two friends were on Wednesday docked in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly buying 11 stolen chickens worth N160,000.

The police charged Bamgbose Lateef, 27; and Ifeoluwa Mustapha, 29; whose addresses were not given with felony, theft and breach of peace.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Insp Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on May 7, at about 10.00.p..m at Ajara farm settlement, Badagry, Lagos.

Ekpo said that the defendants allegedly conspired with others at large to commit a felony to wit stealing.

“Lateef unlawfully stole 11 poultry chckens 160,000 property of Gbeyon Semasa, the complainant.

“Mustapha bought the stolen fowls from him.

“Mustapha conducted herself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by hitting the cell gate in an attempt to destroy it.

“The offence contravenes the provisions of sections 411, 329, 287 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2015,” he said.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr N. A. Layeni, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Layeni adjourned the case until June 4, for mention. (NAN)
