2 historic vinyl albums ‘Eroya’ & ‘Asiko Tito’ for launch at Jazzhole

New Age Production is set to launch two vinyl albums, “Eroya” and “Asiko Tito,” at Jazzhole in Lagos on September 29. The albums showcase the talents of Faaji Agba, a collective of legendary Nigerian musicians who have shaped the country’s music scene since the 1950s.

The launch will feature live performances by octogenarian saxophonist Prince Eji Oyewole, pianist Duro Ikujenyo and Afro-soul singer KunNiraN with his Afara Oyin Star Band. This event marks the culmination of a project conceived in 2004, bringing together 16 tracks from influential artistes in the Highlife, Juju and Afrobeat genres.

Duro Ikujenyo, a key figure in the project, stated, “These albums are a testament to the rich musical heritage of Nigeria. They represent decades of artistic evolution and cultural significance that have defined our nation’s sound.”

The compilation includes works from late legends like Fatai Rolling Dollar and Alaba Pedro, alongside current performers such as Sina Bakare and Prince Eji Oyewole.

Produced by Sina Bakare, Gboyega Oyedele and New Age Productions for Jazzhole Records, the albums offer a comprehensive look at the development of popular music in Nigeria.

This release follows recent events including a preview of the Faaji Agba documentary and a live DJ session at Jazzhole, building anticipation for what promises to be a momentous celebration of Nigerian musical artistry.
