The Police in Lagos State on Thursday docked two men in Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly conspiring with others now at large to steal transformer cables valued at N1.25 million.
The two persons, Fawaz Adebayo, 18, and Aruna Nura, 25 whose addresses are not known, are facing four-count charge of conspiracy, felony to wit malicious damage, wilful damage and stealing.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Insp Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendants committed the offences between October and Nov. 25 on Kofoworola Street, Ipakodo in Ebute area of Ikorodu.
Famuyiwa said that the defendants unlawfully damaged and stole transformer cables, property of Araromi community in Ipakodo.
She said one of the defendants, Nura, dishonestly received the transformer cables from Adebayo having the knowledge that the cables were stolen.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 411, 250, 287 and 328 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mr A.O. Ogbe, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200, 000 each with two sureties in like sum and with verifiable addresses.
The magistrate adjourned the case until Jan.12, 2023 for mention. (NAN)
