2021 JEHF Playwriting Competition holds award ceremony September 26

The 2021 edition of the James Ene Henshaw Foundation Playwriting Competition will Sunday, September 26 hold a virtual award ceremony for the playwrights whose entries emerged winners.

According to a post on the organiser’s official Instagram page, time for the event is 4.30pm London time.

JEHF said in the post the the contest is “designed for new and emerging playwrights with the objective of kick-starting the careers of the creative minds who will go on to influence the performance art of tomorrow”.

Open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 years resident in Nigeria, for the best original play for the stage, submissions for the competition closed early in the year.

JEHF had announced then that it was “looking for plays that capture the pulse and moments of contemporary Nigerian society; writing with a unique voice that speaks to current and future generations”.

Those interested were required to submit an idea for a play in the first instance.

For the awards, each candidate will receive N50, 000. The best overall play will be awarded a further N50,000.
