The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) aka Pyrates Confraternity, have urged Nigerians, especially market women, to be active participants in the Presidential and National Assembly (NASS) elections on Saturday.
The association, through its Regional Vice-President, Solomon Olorunfemi, made the call during the sensitisation of market women to the 2023 general elections in Calabar on Friday.
He noted that the general elections were all that Nigerians, particularly the market women, needed not sit on the fence.
He stressed that as patriotic citizens, the women ought to take their position on governance of the country through the ballot.
Olorunfemi said that their choice was not to stay away from the elections because it would not augur well for the growth and development of the country.
He explained that being indifferent by staying at home was retrogressive and would not in anyway help the country, stressing that every vote was vital.
“We are apolitical and not for any party, we have been saying this for 70 years , but we urge Nigerians to go out and participate actively.
“The exercise concerns all of us, our choices have brought us to where we are, let us make another choice and a better one this time .
“PVC owners have increased, Nigerians are ready, before now there have been voter apathy, but this time it will be different.
“Nigerians are now sensitive and aware and now politically conscious,” he said.(NAN)
