20th LABAF kick offs today with Book Trek -Gabriella Opara

The Lagos Book and Art Festival (LABAF) will begin its weeklong (5th -11th November) festivities, activities and discussions today with the Book Trek.

The event will take place at the British Council in Ikoyi, featuring book readings and conversations, focusing on the “newest books on the Nigerian shelf”. Organised by the Committee for Relevant Art (CORA), which also organises LABAF, the event will begin at 5pm. The discussions will include; The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead, Build Innovate and Grow by Kingsley Moghalu, Lakiriboto Chronicles by Ayodele Olofintuade, Not Without a Fight by Helen Zille and more.

Monday evening will have guests interacting with writers, culture icons, celebrities and the literati.

The 20th edition of the Lagos Book and Art Festival will hold mainly at Freedom Park and other venues all through the week featuring a number of events, such as; creative workshops, book discussions, poetry performances, theatre performances, mentorships, and more. Attendance is free to all.
