The Police on Wednesday, arraigned four men before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over alleged breach of public peace.
Ifeanyi Oforma, 41; Chukwubuike Okafor, 32; Martins Ogwuejiofor, 44; and Chitenna Okafor, 45 are facing a two-count charge of felony and breach of public peace.
The Prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose told the court that the defendants committed the offences at about 10.00a.m on May 15 at Aspamda Market, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos.
He said the defendants whose addresses were not given, conspired to harass legally appointed revenue collectors in the market.”
They conspired and conducted themselves in a manner capable of disturbing public peace within the market.”
They harassed revenue collectors appointed by the market authority, and they gave contrary directives to traders,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 411 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Fadahunsi Adefioye granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500, 000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
Adefioye said that one of the sureties must be working in a reputable organisation based in Lagos.
The Chief Magistrate adjourned the case until Aug. 2, for mention. (NAN)
