The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed a total number of 476 new COVID-19 coronavirus cases in the country.
The NCSC made the announcement Thursday night via tweet.
It said the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria is now 50, 964 with 37, 569 patients discharged and 992 deaths recorded.
As of August 20, the confirmed coronavirus death toll on the African continent stood at 26,664.There are 1,148,849 confirmed infections and 871,590 recoveries, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
Worldwide, the number of those diagnosed with COVID-19 has exceeded 22 million. According to Johns Hopkins University, the global total of confirmed coronavirus cases is now more than 22.5 million people, and more than 14.4 million have recovered. More than 790,500 people have died.
