9 arrested over killing of policemen in Delta  (Channels)

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has announced that nine persons have been arrested in connection to the killings of police officers in the Ughelli area of Delta State.

The police boss, disclosed this on Thursday, at a management meeting of the Force.

He said those arrested are currently providing the Force with information that will assist in the arrest of those involved in the killings. Read more

EFCC Arrest: Bobrisky fails to meet bail conditions (Vanguard)

Popular cross-dresser and social media personality, Idris Okuneye better known as Bobrisky, has reportedly failed to meet the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, bail conditions.

Bobrisky was arrested and detained on Wednesday by the Lagos State Command of the Commission over abuse of Naira, spraying of Naira notes, and currency mutilation.

Okuneye’s failure to meet bail was confirmed to Punch by EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale. Read more 

Kano gov innaugurates panels to probe Ganduje, Doguwa (Leadership)

The Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has inaugurated two Judicial Commissions of Inquiry (JCIs) on cases of misappropriation of public property, political violence and missing persons in the State between 2015 to 2023.

Inaugurating members of the JCIs on Thursday, Governor Yusuf vowed to bring anyone found wanting to book, adding that it was part of his inaugural pledge to unravel and prosecute those behind cases of political violence recorded in the state before and during 2015, 2019 and 2023 general elections.

“Political violence is a major setback to democracy worldwide. It leads to loss of lives and property as well as mistrust on the part of the people and those in power. Read more 

FRSC moves 13 Obajana auto-crash victims to Plateau for burial (Tribune)

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kogi Command, on Thursday, disclosed that they have released the charred remains of the 13 victims of the Obajana Easter Sunday auto-crash to their families for burial in Plateau.

Recalls that the 13 victims died in a Sharon vehicle that was engulfed by fire at Obajana Market on Easter Sunday when a truck hit their bus from behind.

Two people who were injured in the auto crash are receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the state. Read more

A fire has gutted parts of the popular Gomboru Market in Maiduguri with goods worth millions of naira destroyed as a result of the inferno.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out at Yan Katako, a part of the market where wood and carpentry materials are sold.

Military seizes 21m litres of stolen crude in 3 months, says DHQ (Nation)

The Defence Headquarters said troops of Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), a military onslaught against oil thieves in the Niger Delta region, recovered 21,573,310 litres of stolen crude worth over N20 billion in the first quarters of 2024.

It also said troops also seized 2,723,430 litres of illegally refined diesel, 53,300 litres of kerosene and 52,730 litres of petrol.

At least 11 Iranian security force members have been killed in an attack on an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) headquarters in the southeastern border province of Sistan-Baluchestan, state media reported.

In the ensuing overnight clashes with security forces, 16 members of Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice) – a Sunni armed group – were killed, Iranian state TV reported on Thursday.

An infant’s remains have been found in a waste plant in Florida, according to authorities.

In an April 3 news release obtained by PEOPLE, West Palm Beach Police said detectives recovered “body parts that appeared to be from an infant” at the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County on April 2.

Speaking at a press conference on April 3, West Palm Beach Police spokesman Mike Jachles told reporters that a worker at the facility found the remains on the tipping floor and contacted the authorities at 5:25 p.m. local time. Read more
