AAUA lecturers express fear, ask Akeredolu to tackle kidnapping (Punch)

The lecturers of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Akoko branch have expressed worry over the spate of insecurity in the Ondo North Senatorial District of Ondo State in the recent times, following the abduction of lecturers of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.

The lecturers, under the auspices of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, AAUA branch called on the state governor,  Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu and security agencies in the state to address the problem.

In a statement signed by the chairman of the union, Dr. Sola Fayose and made available to our correspondent on Monday, the union said there was a need for the government to be proactive in addressing the incessant kidnappings, particularly along the Akure-Owo-Akungba Akoko roads.

The letter read in part, “Our Union is constrained to draw your attention to the worrisome state of the security of lives and property on the Akure-Owo-Akungba highway, which is our regular route to work. Read more
