Kwara State Governor and Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) Chairman AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has congratulated Senator Godswill Akpabio and Representative Tajudeen Abass on their emergence as Senate President and House of Representatives Speaker respectively.
According to a statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor also congratulated Senator Jibrin Barau and Benjamin Kalu on their elections as Deputy Senate President and Deputy Speaker, respectively.
Also, AbdulRazaq congratulated members of the Kwara State House of Assembly on their inauguration into the 10th parliament.
“The popular choices of the new Senate President and the Rt. Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives — as well as their deputies — underscore the confidence that their colleagues reposed in them and their abilities to work in harmony with the other arms of government for the development of our country,” AbdulRazaq said in a statement.
“We look forward to working with the new leadership on different issues of national interest, while wishing them God’s guidance and protection as they lead their colleagues in the 10th National Assembly to champion a vibrant legislative agenda that complements the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other subnational governments across Nigeria.”
The Governor specifically commended the House members for the smooth election of a new leadership under the Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, who was returned to his seat unopposed.
“This seamless transition, including the re-election of the Speaker and emergence of Hon. Emmanuel Ojo Oyebode as the Deputy Speaker, speaks to the maturity of the lawmakers and their commitment to stability, collective prosperity, and growth of our state,” according to a Government House statement on Tuesday.
“The Governor urges the lawmakers to continue to prioritise public good and unity of our people in the discharge of their legislative responsibilities. He prays to God to guide the lawmakers as they assume the duties of making laws for the good governance of Kwara State.”
