A primary school teacher in Adamawa State, Mr Nathan Yusuf, who was arrested for defiling and impregnating his 12-year-old pupil, has confessed to giving the victim codeine before having carnal knowledge of her.
Yusuf was arrested by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps after the victim, who became pregnant as a result, narrated her ordeal to her parents.
The suspect, who before the incident was a welcome guest in the homes of most parents and guardians of pupils of the Gurel Primary School, Namtari, was said to have taken advantage of his position to perpetrate the act.
Trouble started for Yusuf when the victim’s parents and other members of the community noticed changes in her physical appearance and suspicion grew that she could be pregnant. Read more
