Africa Volunteer Network provides special Christmas experience for orphan and abandoned children in Lagos

Africa Volunteer Network (AVN), on Saturday, created a unique Christmas experience for the children from Vigilant Heart Charitable Society (VHCS), an orphanage home situated in Lagos.

It was all fun and excitement as the kids were treated to an amazing time at Meadow hall school grounds, where there was a movie viewing of ‘the greatest showman’ and an outstanding music performance from the kids, entertaining guests present. The Kids who engaged in interesting outdoor games and other fun activities, prior to the movie viewing, were truly indeed in a magical place, as they jumped and danced around happily.

Christmas Magic Moment is an initiative of Africa Volunteer Network (AVN), a group focused on creating impact in disadvantaged communities, and inspiring less privileged children across Africa, to identify and develop their talent, that they may maximize their full potential.

AVN is a platform built on the back of volunteers, and its December 29th outreach was the first of its kind. AVN hopes to extend the Christmas Magic Moment initiative to many more orphanages in the coming year, with the hope that this serves as a constant reminder to these kids to believe in their dreams and work towards achieving it.

While speaking at the venue of the outreach, Founder of Africa Volunteer Network, Mobo Akpene stated that, the initiative is very dear to her heart, as she reiterated AVN’s commitment to working and inspiring children in Africa from less privileged backgrounds. Mobo added that leveraging our volunteer networks and expertise, AVN hopes to impact the lives of many children, by simply spreading a message of love, providing them with relevant support, and inspiring an environment that allows them to thrive.

With over 52 million orphans in Africa, many of whom have no support and are forced to cater for their own wellbeing at a very young age, Africa Volunteer Network hopes to continue to create inspiring moments that help less privileged children turn their dreams into reality.
