Lagos hotelier’s son, friend arrested for drugging, raping lady (Punch)

The son of the owner of the Dallankester Hotels, Don-Chime George, and his friend, Rasaq Oke, have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly drugging and raping a 23-year-old lady in the Lekki Phase 1 area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said in a statement, on Tuesday, that George and Oke allegedly laced the victim’s drink with a substance that made her weak and took her to the hotel where she was repeatedly raped.

He added that when the elder brother of the victim informed the police about the incident, operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, Maroko Division, CSP Isah Abdulmajid, arrested the suspects and recovered a video recording of the duo sexually abusing the unconscious victim from their phones. Four businessmen charged with producing fake oil (Nation)

The Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday remanded in prison four men charged with producing adulterated engine oil.

Justice Oluremi Oguntoyibo ordered that Johnson Uche, Olaide Shittu, Kingsley Meteke and Abdulquadri Olayinka be remanded, pending their arraignment.

The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) said the defendants and others at large on January 2, at 2, Esugbayi Street, NPA Quarters, Marine Bridge, Apapa, produced adulterated/substandard engine oil. Read more

Sales boy docked over N625,000 theft (Nation)

A sales boy, Onyebuchi Onunwa, alleged to have stolen N625, 000 from his employer, was arraigned on Monday at the Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 20-year-old, faces a count charge of stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Omisakin, said that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 1 at about 12.10 p.m. at No. 13, Church St. in Ebute Meta. Read more

Court convicts mother for assaulting eight-year-old daughter (Punch)

Chief Magistrate Olufunke Sule-Amzat of the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Monday, sentenced a 38-year-old mother, Vivian Onyekachukwu, to two weeks community service for assaulting her eight-year-old daughter

Vivian was sentenced after she pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful assault.

Delivering her judgement, Sule-Amzat held that Vivian should spend two hours daily for two weeks doing community service, adding that it would serve as a deterrent to others, who were fond of abusing children physically and emotionally. Read more

Bricklayer remanded for ‘raping girl, 13’ (Nation)

A bricklayer, Daniel Ezekiel, who allegedly raped a 13-year-old food vendor, was on Monday remanded in prison by an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court.

Ezekiel, 23, who lives at Elegushi in Lagos, was arraigned by the Igando Police Station on a one-count charge of defilement before Mrs. K. O. Doja-Ojo.

Prosecuting Inspector Peace Chukwudi alleged that the defendant committed the offence at about 3pm on January 30, at Ikate Elegushi, Lekki, Lagos. Read more

Four docked over unlawful possession of dangerous weapons (Nation)

Four men, Sulaimon Ishola, Sunday Ayabbode, Bashiru Musa and Toheeb Olorunlambe, were on Monday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, for alleged possession of guns and belonging to a secret society.

The defendants, all residents of Ijora, Lagos, are facing a three-court charge of conspiracy, belonging to a secret society and unlawful possession of guns, offences they denied committing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Raphael Donny, had told the court that the defendants committed the offences with some others still at large, on Dec. 4, 2018 at Ijora-Badia, Lagos. Read more

Man steals N1.5m plastic kegs (Nation)

A 25-year-old man, Adebayo Jubril, was on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing imported plastic rubbers valued at N1.5million.

Prosecuting Inspector Aondohemba Koti said the defendant committed the offence on January 14 at Mushin, Lagos.

He said the kegs of 25 litres each belonged to Mr. Abdullahi Mohammed. Read more

Man dupes woman of N320,000 (Nation)

A 55-year-old man, Waheed Akande, who allegedly obtained N320,000 under false pretence, was on Wednesday arraigned at Ijede Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

He is facing a two-count charge of fraud and breach of contract.

Prosecuting Inspector Aminu Isaac alleged that the defendant committed the offence last October 23 at 10:40 am, at Lugbusi town, off Adamo, Ikorodu. Read more
