PDP, in its suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1972/22, equally applied for an order, invalidating the nomination of 40 Lagos State House of Assembly candidates over the late submission of their nomination forms to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The plaintiff maintained that Sections 29 and 30(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022, made it mandatory for political parties, including the 2nd defendant (APC), to submit nomination forms of candidates it intend to sponsor for elections, to the 1st defendant (INEC), not later than 180 days to the conduct of the election.
PDP told the court that APC failed to submit the nomination list containing names of governor Sanwo-Olu and the 40 House of Assembly candidates, within the statutorily approved timeline. Read more
Fraud: CBN, ICPC, EFCC, others probe online loan companies (Guardian)
The National Data Protection Bureau (NDPB) has disclosed that it is working with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC,) the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and other agencies of government to investigate the activities of online financial loan companies that are currently defrauding vulnerable Nigerians using certain applications.

National Commissioner and the Chief Executive Officer of the NDPB, Mr. Vincent Olatunji, who disclosed this at a briefing organised by the Bureau in collaboration with the NCC yesterday in Abuja, however, lamented that a lot of the online loan Apps operators don’t have physical addresses thereby making it difficult for the agency to track them.
Olatunji also expressed worry over cyber attacks where malware normally malicious software executes unauthorised actions on the victim’s system. He observed that the issue of national security has gone beyond physical security, saying that is why malware is a cyber war all over the world. He added that the National Cyber Crime Act of 2015 was put in place to address the issue of cyber security. He stated that the NDPB would soon meet with the National Security Adviser (NSA) to see how they can work together to use the issue of privacy and protection to address the issue of cyber security. Alec Baldwin filed a cross-complaint on Friday seeking to “clear his name” in the shooting death of “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, and said that blame for the tragedy lies with three crew members and with the man who supplied ammunition to the set.
Baldwin named all four as cross-defendants in a lawsuit originally filed against him last year by Mamie Mitchell, the film’s script supervisor. Baldwin said he relied on all four to do their jobs, and that Hutchins died as a result of their negligence.
As a result, Baldwin says he has experienced “immense grief” and suffered an “emotional, physical and financial toll.”
“More than anyone else on that set, Baldwin has been wrongfully viewed as the perpetrator of this tragedy,” wrote Baldwin’s attorney, Luke Nikas. “By these Cross-Claims, Baldwin seeks to clear his name and hold Cross-Defendants accountable for their misconduct.” Read more

Fans celebrated the musical legacy of slain rapper Takeoff on Friday at a memorial service in Atlanta, near where the artist grew up, that drew Justin Bieber, Drake and other big names in the music industry.

Migos’ music represented the creativity and culture of the Black community, she said, and she worried the group would be too saddened to make new music — at least forin Batman: The Animated Series in 1992.

Now a tool using artificial intelligence (AI) – built by Daniel Patt, a software engineer for Google – could hold the key to putting names to some of the many faces, both victims and survivors, in hundreds of thousands of historic photographs. It found Blanche in a wartime photo which she had never seen before. Read more
Troost-Ekong relishes playing under Bilic (Punch)
Having a head coach who played in defence – and at the highest level – can only be a good thing if you are a defender yourself, and that is something William Troost-Ekong would concur with.
The Nigeria skipper has been a regular starter since Slaven Bilic arrived, and that has coincided with a different way of playing for those at the back.
However, Troost-Ekong says the clarity of instruction helps the defenders to know exactly what is required of them.
