Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has assured of more life changing projects in 2019 for the greater benefit of Lagosians.

Ambode gave the assurance in his New Year message to Lagosians at the grand finale of the 2018 One Lagos Fiesta (OLF) held at the Eko Atlantic City in Victoria Island on the eve of the New Year

Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday swore in Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola as the state’s 21st Head of Service (HoS) as well as six new permanent secretaries.

Reading Culture: LASG, NGO establish libraries in recreational parks (Independent)

To promote reading culture in Nigeria, Open Library Initiatives, a non-governmental organisation in conjunction with the Lagos State Government on Monday

Ambode’s Wife Receives First Babies of the Year (ThisDay)

Lagos State recorded the first babies of the year 2019— a male and a female child, at the Lagos Island Maternity, weighing 3.7kg and 2.8kg at 12.00a.m. and 12.01a.m. respectively.

At the General Hospital, Somolu, a male child was also born at 1.47 am, weighing 3kg and two females at the Randle General Hospital, Surulere, at 1.58a.m. and 4a.m., weighing 2kg and 2.7kg respectively. Read more

Lagos Assembly passes 11 bills into law in 2018 (Independent)

The Lagos State House of Assembly passed 11 bills into Law in 2018, while others remained at various legislative stages in the House.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the House passed 7 and 12 bills into Law in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

The 11 bills passed by the lawmakers in 2018 resulted in the Lagos State Electric Sector Reform Law, 2018; the controversial Land Use Charge Law, 2018 and the 2018 Appropriation Law. Read more

Seven killed as gunmen attack Plateau communities (ThisDay)

Seven persons have again been following attacks by gunmen on to communities in Barki Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The latest attacks occurred on Sunday night in two up communities of Dorong and Nding, within the area council.

Five of the victims, who were returning home after a picnic organised by a Christian youth fellowship in Jos, were said to have been gunned down by the assailants, who had laid ambush on them close to Nding Community bridge, while the other two victims died when the gunmen suspected to be Fulani herders invaded Dorong community. In line with Federal Government directive, the implementation of mandatory usage of the National Identification Number (NIN) takes effect from today, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced.

At its meeting on September 12, 2018 chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the new National Digital Identity Ecosystem Strategic Roadmap for the enrolment of Nigerians and legal residents into the National Identity Database (NIDB). Read more

Power sub-station vandal arrested (ThisDay)

Osita Anazodo, a 32-year-old electrician who hails from Akuiro, Okpuno, Anambra State, attacked a 300KVA distribution sub-station belonging to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Plc (EEDC), located at Ugwuagulu Obiofia, Ozubulu, Anambra State.

But a statement revealed that luck however ran out on him as an eye witness who saw him leave the scene on a motorcycle with the vandalised armoured cables placed on the fuel tank reported the incident to the leadership of the local vigilante, who immediately reinforced with youths of the community and went in search of him. Cultists invade Calabar streets (DailyTrust)

A dreaded cult group simply known as “ID Boys” on Tuesday invaded some streets of Calabar, Cross River state.
