Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, Saturday, cast his vote, urging Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address issues raised by its ad-hoc staff.
Ambode stressed that the demand raised by the staff could affects registered some registered voters in the state from exercising their rights.
The governor’s appeal to the electoral commission was due to the ongoing protest by INEC ad-hoc staff over unpaid allowances for the Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.
Ambode, who cast his vote with his wife, Bolanle, at about 10am at his polling unit 033 Ogunmodede, at Ward 05, Ajaganabe, Epe Local Government, was welcomed by a crowd that abandoned the exercise to watch him perform the rights.
He said: “I have just cast my vote few seconds ago. The exercise commenced early as stipulated by INEC and it has been peaceful.” Read more
