The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 179 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday
In an update via tweet on its verified handle, the government agency, said there are now 60,834 confirmed cases of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus in Nigeria.
A total number of 52,143 people it added, have so far been discharged from hospital, while the death toll is still 1,116.
The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, in its October 14 COVID-19 update on Twitter put the total number of cases on the continent at 1, 592, 549, while total deaths is said to be 38, 868 and 1, 318, 132 have so far recovered.
Meanwhile, confirmed cases around the world have exceeded 38 million with more than one million people dead from the virus.
According to a tally by the Johns Hopkins University, 38,082,877 infections have been confirmed worldwide, while 1,086,095 have so far died from the virus. Over 306,451 new infections were recorded late on Monday alone worldwide, with over 5000 deaths.
