Apapa traffic has improved, says Lagos govt

Lagos State Government yesterday gave an assessment of the Apapa traffic and admitted that things have improved on that corridor in terms of traffic.

The government also said no one should doubt its resolve to bring sanity to bear in Apapa, warning terminal operators to continue to support it to permanently put an end to traffic gridlock by supporting the intervention plans in place to end the snare.

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Transportation. Oluwatoyin Fayinka disclosed this at an operation review meeting with terminal operators in the Tin Can Island Ports axis at Apapa.

Fayinka who doubles as the Chairman, Traffic Management Enforcement Team declared that the meeting is in continuation of efforts to enlist the support of all the critical stakeholders in the Ports at Apapa to rid it of gridlock of which the Terminal Operators plays a critical role. Fayinka noted that traffic in and out of Apapa and its environs has improved drastically and disclosed “If you come in through Eko Bridge, Ijora, Sifas or Iganmu, the road is free. The only problem we are having now is from Area B to the Port.’’ (Nation)
