Armed men rob travellers, set bus on fire in Ogun (Punch)

Some armed men, on Saturday, attacked and looted a luxury bus at Oke Ado Junction, Ijebu-mushin, along the Ijebu-Ode-Benin Expressway.

The passengers were said to be on their way to the southeast for Easter celebrations when the incident happened.

The hoodlums, after successfully robbing the passengers, decided to set the bus ablaze. The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Sunday. Read more

President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, for Dakar, Senegal, to attend the inauguration of Senegal’s President-elect, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

3 presidential jets proposed for sale (Nation)

Three jets in the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF) are to be sold off, it was learnt at the weekend.

This is part of the cost-saving measures being adopted by the Tinubu Administration, an official told our correspondent.

There are 10 aircraft in the fleet – six jets and four helicopters – which will be cut to seven if the planned action sails through. Read more 

Wike distributes Ramadan food items to Muslims in Abuja (Independent)

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, demonstrated solidarity with the Muslim community by distributing food items on Saturday, in observance of the Ramadan fast.

The distribution took place at the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Arts and Culture in Area 10, Garki, Abuja, with Head of Service, Samuel Udo Atang, representing the minister.

At the event, 5000 bags of rice, 1000 cartons of vegetable oil, 1000 cartons of sugar, and 1000 cartons were distributed to beneficiaries, including the 17 FCT graded chiefs, mosques in the FCT, the six Area Councils, and welfare associations.

A 46-year-old woman (name withheld) resident in Oyo town, would benefit from a free In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) worth N3 million courtesy of SW Aqua CARES Fertility and Women Health, a private health facility in Osogbo, Osun.

In vitro, fertilisation otherwise known as (IVF) is a process of fertilisation where an egg is combined with sperm in vitro (“in glass”).

The process involves monitoring and stimulating a woman’s ovulatory process, removing an ovum or ova (egg or eggs) from their ovaries, and letting a man’s sperm fertilise them in a culture medium in a laboratory. Read more

The Nigerian Army says its troops have in a series of coordinated operations, raided terrorists’ enclaves in Katsina and Zamfara States, resulting in the elimination of a significant number of terrorists.

A post on the Nigerian Army’s official ‘X’ handle (formally Twitter), on Monday, said the operations were conducted on March 29 and March 30.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says two persons sustained injuries in an auto crash on the Agbara-Badagry expressway in Lagos State on Monday.

FRSC Commander, Badagry Unit, Mr William Manga, who confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the accident occurred at about 12.54 a.m.

Cameron Sutton has surrendered to authorities weeks after being issued a domestic violence arrest warrant.

The former Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers player, 29, turned himself into the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday night. This comes after “weeks of evading law enforcement” over a domestic battery by strangulation charge, the police said.

After nearly a week of growing public discontent, the Togolese presidency announced that the controversial constitutional reform bill will be tabled again in Parliament.

In a statement unveiled on March 29, the office of President Faure Gnassingbé invokes the “interest aroused” by the adoption of the bill and the “perfectible nature of the law” to justify the request for a “second reading”.

US-based Formula 1 owner Liberty Media announces MotoGP takeover (AlJazeera)

Formula One owner Liberty Media has agreed to buy MotoGP in a deal valued at about 4.2 billion euros ($4.5bn), the United States-based company said.

MotoGP said in a statement on Monday that Liberty Media would acquire “approximately 86 percent” stake from Spain-based owner Dorna.

Officers were called to North Central Expressway in Dallas at 6:25 p.m. on Saturday after two speeding drivers lost control and crashed, “causing a chain reaction collision involving four other vehicles.”
