Asharami Energy, a key player in the upstream sector and part of the Sahara Group, recently clinched the prestigious International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 20400 certification for sustainable procurement.

This remarkable achievement signifies Asharami Energy’s unwavering dedication to fostering sustainable practices and responsible sourcing within its supply chain and procurement management system.

The ISO 20400 certification, recognised globally as the standard for sustainable procurement, is granted to organisations that demonstrate a steadfast commitment to sustainable practices and responsible sourcing. Asharami Energy’s attainment of this certification underscores its focus on corporate social impact and sustainability initiatives.

Henry Menkiti, the Chief Operating Officer of Asharami Energy, emphasized the significance of the certification, stating, “This certification is a testament to our dedication to promoting sustainable practices across our operations.”

He highlighted the company’s ongoing efforts to align its operations with global environmental standards and collaborate with stakeholders in host communities.

Menkiti also pointed out Asharami Energy’s noteworthy achievements in the upstream sector, including its recent milestone of achieving 3 million Lost Time Injury free man-hours. The “Lost Time Injury” metric is a crucial benchmark in the oil and gas industry, measuring injuries or illnesses resulting from work-related incidents that lead to missed workdays or disrupt operations.

Frank Emeruwa, Head of Supply Chain Management at Asharami Energy, emphasised the critical role sustainable procurement plays in ensuring the long-term success of energy businesses and fostering sustainable community relations. He stated, “This achievement demonstrates our unwavering commitment to responsible sourcing, ethical practices, and transparency in our procurement processes,” setting a benchmark for sustainable procurement practices in the upstream industry and reinforcing Sahara Group’s commitment to responsible energy practices.
