Africa’s biggest youth event, The Future Awards Africa, is set to unveil the nominees for its 13th edition, with the list set to be announced on Sunday, December 2, 2018.

Doing the honours will be media personality, Ayo Mairo-Ese and ex-Big Brother Naija housemate, Omololu Shomuyiwa. The unveiling will be televised at 3pm on ChannelsTV, EbonyLife TV, WazobiaMax TV, African Magic Family and African Magic Epic.

Holding this year under the theme: ‘Nigeria’s New Tribe’, the 2018 edition again celebrates young Nigerians driving new narratives, pursuing positive change and making a difference through social enterprise, social good and innovation, united by the possibilities of their talent, commitment to hard work and driven by achievement.

With 20 categories up this year, the top spots for the awards will be hotly contested as 100 nominees are set to be revealed by the hosts.

The Future Awards Africa has been called the ‘Nobel Prize for Young Africans’, and the ‘most important youth awards’ by Forbes. It is a set of prizes given annually to celebrate and accelerate innovation, creativity and enterprise amongst young Africans aged 18 – 31. It has produced over 150 winners and over 1,550 nominees since its first edition in 2006.

It is presented in conjunction with The Future Project, which has a mandate to build empowered citizens across Africa, through (inclusive) enterprise and (active) citizenship. This focus on Human Capital Development is informed by the award’s value proposition, which holds that Africa’s growth needs a generation of young people who are gainfully employed and able to demand and secure better leadership.

Aiki.ng, an employability portal presented with Microsoft; the Nigeria Symposium for Young & Emerging Leaders, #StartupsAfrica, Intern4Jobs, YMonitor.org presented with National Endowment for Democracy (NED), The Future Enterprise Support Scheme and The Future Awards Africa, are some of the award’s projects.
