Bandits kill 5 in Kaduna, burn church, house

Five persons were killed by bandits and two others injured in an attack on Chikun and Igabi councils of Kaduna State. 

The state’s Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, who made this known in a statement yesterday, said security agencies reported to the state government, the killing of Zakja Kure and Dare Daudu at Kabai general area of Chikun council.

According to him, the Assemblies of God church building and a house were torched by the attackers in Kabai. He added that Maryamu Daniel and Naomi Daniel, wives of the church pastors sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention in a private facility.

 The commissioner said security agencies also reported the killing of three citizens in transit and several others sustaining injuries around the Lambar Zango area of Kaduna-Zaria Road in Igabi Council.  

He said the citizens lost their lives following an attack by armed bandits.

“Governor Nasir el-Rufai has condoled with families of the five citizens and prayed God grants them eternal rest. He further prayed for the speedy recovery of those receiving medical attention. ”“el-Rufai has directed the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency to carry out an immediate assessment at the church and the other affected building in Kabai village,” Aruwan said.
