Bandits ‘kill’ Chief Imam, 2 others in Sokoto

Bandits have reportedly killed three persons including the Chief Imam of Gangara in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

It was learnt that the chief imam, fondly addressed as Liman Na-Kimba, was killed on Wednesday while coming back from Sokoto where he went to collect his pension.

According to eyewitness accounts, their vehicles rammed into a gang of bandits along Adamawa village and the assailants opened fire on them.

“One of the bullets hit and killed the imam,” the source said.

Meanwhile, two farmers were killed by bandits at Dunkawa village under the Gatawa district in the same Sabon Birni local government four days ago.

The bandits also abducted six other farmers while working on their farms.

Leader of the vigilante group in Sabon Birni, Musa Muhammad, who confirmed the incident said the farmers were killed on their farms four days ago.

“They met them working on their farms, killed two and abducted six others,” he said.

According to him, the deceased were all buried in line with the Islamic injuctions.

He lamented that bandits brought cattle to destroy farms in the communities. (DailyTrust)
