Okorocha denies baring Uzodinma from using stadium for campaign (Guardian)

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has denied the claim by Imo State All Progressives Congress (APC), gubernatorial candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma, that he denied him access to the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, for yesterday’s flag-off of his campaign. Uzodinma, who spoke through his campaign official, Kingsley Ononuju, had accused Okorocha of denying the party access to the stadium even after going through the due process of applying.Rather, Okorocha insisted that he directed officials’ in charge of the stadium to grant it free-of-charge to candidates of all political parties who wished to use the facility for campaign purposes. Yuletide: FAAN assures passengers of safety (Nation)

Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured passengers and other airport users travelling during the Yuletide of adequate security. FAAN disclosed this in statement by its General Manager, Corporation Affairs, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu. According to Yakubu,the authority has beefed up security at all airports, especially at international terminals in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano. Maiduguri residents protest against uninterrupted electricity supply (Punch)

Residents of Maiduguri, capital of Borno State, said that their 24-hour-electricity supply be cut short immediately. According to them, the constant power supply has caused a huge increase in charges. They are demanding that the Yola Electricity Distribution Company reduce their electricity supply to the 12-hour daily that used to be the case. Most residents of the state capital stormed the YEDC office on Wednesday to demand a reduction in electricity. The spate of killings in parts of Benue state by suspected militant herdsmen may have been contained successfully by the joint military Operation Whirl Stroke which was launched in the state last May to stem the killings, many of the 500,000 Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, are however still trapped in the eight camps and villages where they are currently taking refuge. Arrests over Gatwick drones disruption (BBC)

Two people have been arrested in connection with a string of drone sightings which brought Gatwick Airport to a standstill. Sussex Police said it made the arrests at about 22:00 GMT on Friday. Flights from Gatwick were grounded for more than a day after the devices were seen near the runway. Nigerian team has emerged overall winner of the 2018 Africa Schools Badminton Championship, which ended in Tema, Ghana, on Thursday evening. Team Nigeria got five gold, three silver and three bronze medals in the championship. Salesman stabs boss, demands N4m for 18 months’ work (Punch)

The police in Lagos have arrested a salesman, Charles Ogbonna, for assault after he allegedly stabbed his boss in the chest and back. City Round learnt that Ogbonna had asked his boss, Eze Nwachukwu, to pay him N4m so he could set up his own business after working for the man for 18 months. EFCC intercepts $2.8m cash at airport (Nation)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has intercepted $2.8 million (about N1.02 billion) cash at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu from two people suspected to be money launderers. The suspects, Ighoh Augustine and Ezekwe Emmanuel, were said to be working for a company called Bankers Warehouse. Besides the arrest, the EFCC is also tracking some politically exposed persons (PEPs) trying to move slush funds through Ghana, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for 2019 elections.
