BON condemns demolition Of Ayefele’s radio station (PremiumTimes)

The Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) has condemned the demolition of the structure housing Fresh FM in Ibadan.

Music House was pulled down early Sunday morning by the Oyo State Government, citing alleged breach of the approved plan. The property is owned by popular musician, Yinka Ayefele.

Speaking on the development on Wednesday, BON described the action of the state government as oppressive and a demonstration of flagrant muzzling of the media and press freedom.

”As the umbrella body of broadcast stations in the country, we find this action not only oppressive and high handed but a demonstration of flagrant muzzling of the media and press freedom which must be condemned by all civilized minds,” the organisation’s chairman, John Momoh, said on Channels Television.

”We ask the media in Nigeria, our international counterparts and all people of goodwill to stand and condemn the action of the government of Oyo State.”

BON declared support for Ayefele and demanded compensation for him.
