Buratai pays tribute to soldiers who died in Boko Haram war (Punch)

The Chief of the Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, has said that soldiers who lost their lives in the North-East were in pursuit of human rights for people living in terrorists-infested communities.

The army chief said on Monday that it was regrettable that in “some areas of the North-East, heinous acts of terrorism were continually perpetrated by the terrorists.”

Buratai stated this in his address on the International Human Rights Day, according to a release by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen Sani Usman.

The army chief promised that his men would uphold the promotion and protection of human rights, as this is a component of the military operations. Read more
