The new football season has surely hit a feverish pitch with so much in store for fans. The 2018/19 Serie A season kicks into overdrive this weekend with Kalidou Koulibaly’s Napoli looking to strike a blow in the race for the title.
The Partenopei Gli Azzurri, who feature the Senegalese ‘man mountain’ as a regular in their defence and can also call on the services of Guinean Amadou Diawara and Algerian duo Adam Ounas and Faouzi Ghoulam as they head to Turin to meet log leaders Juventus on Saturday evening.
The enmity runs deep between the teams, especially after Juventus narrowly edged Napoli out for the Serie A crown last season. Yet when the teams last met – at the Allianz Stadium in April earlier this year – the Naples side claimed all three points with a 1-0 win, which was secured by a towering header from Koulibaly. Juventus will hope Cristiano Ronaldo continues his scoring form after netting three times in their last two Serie A outings.
LaLiga fans will be spoilt for choice as with a Madrid derby as giants, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid go head to head on Saturday night. Partey appeared as a second-half substitute for Diego Simeone’s team in their weekend 2-0 win at Getafe but will want to have a greater role for their clash with Los Blancos at the Bernabeu.
Sofiane Boufal’s Celta de Vigo are one of La Liga’s most entertaining teams (their last two matches have produced 11 goals) and host Getafe on Monday night in a match which wraps up a busy schedule for Spain’s top flight.
