The Chairman, Magboro Area Community Development Council (CDC), Mr Adesina Olukoga, on Thursday said that the proposed Magboro Industrial Estate would soon be in place.
Olukoga told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the siting of the industrial estate would improve industrial and economic activities in the Lagos State-bounded community.
The CDC Chairman, who spoke to NAN on the sidelines of an award ceremony held at Nesgel School Hall, Makogi, Magboro, noted the community’s economic potential.
NAN reports that Magboro Area CDC emerged as the best CDC, beating four others at the award ceremony organised by the a local news tabloid, The Voice Magazine.
“We are engaging the government on the Magboro Industrial estate that will soon be open for companies. This is a great development to the community.
“We have assurance from the Ogun State government that before the end of the first quarter of the year, the contractor handling the project, Hi Tech Company, will move to the site for the first phase of work.
“The government has also promised to restart the expansion of the road networks that lead to the industrial city, the contract has been awarded already.
“The company has been doing some preliminary works on the site before now and we are sure that the project will be completed very soon,” he said.
Olukoga said that the association had initiated viable infrastructure projects that would improve the aesthetics of the community.
“Our top priority as an association is to see that the community is well developed just like Lekki in Lagos State.
“On our part, we want Ogun State government to realise how viable Magboro is economically, our community can become an economic hub of the state given the strength of our population.
“The population of Magboro is a good consideration for business opportunities, but sadly, the community is being underrated and classified as a village.
“Magboro Community has a great advantage given its proximity to Lagos State, as most people living there are working in Lagos, so the expectations are high on the business viability.
“We are embarking on the construction of a befitting entrance for the community as well,” he said. (NAN)
