Celebrities react to body found in search for Michael Mosley

The discovery of a body in the search for missing TV doctor Michael Mosley has left celebrities and fans in shock. Mosley, 67, was reported missing on June 5 while on holiday on the Greek island of Symi with his wife, Dr. Clare Bailey. Concerns were raised when Mosley failed to return from a walk amid soaring temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius.

The body, discovered on June 9 by a hospitality worker and British journalists near a fence on Agia Marina beach, is yet to be formally identified. Symi’s Mayor, Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, suggested that Mosley might have fallen off a short 10-metre cliff near the location.

The news has prompted an outpouring of grief from several high-profile figures. Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp expressed his sorrow on X (formerly Twitter): “Michael Mosley, So sad, I have spent so many hours watching and loving his work! I was praying for a different outcome! My love goes out to all his family.”

BBC correspondent Lyse Doucet also shared her condolences: “Such sad news – for his loving family and dear friends and the many who lived better lives because of his wonderful work.”

Mosley, known for his work on health documentaries and as an advocate for the 5:2 and Fast 800 diets, had been seen in CCTV footage walking in the nearby coastal village of Pedi and later descending a mountainous path. Theories suggested he might have ventured into dangerous rocky terrain or fallen into the sea.

Dr. Adam Kay, another celebrity paying tribute, said: “Desperately sad news about Michael Mosley. My thoughts with his family – may his memory be a blessing.”

Jamie Oliver shared a heartfelt post on Instagram: “Rest in peace Michael Mosley…. Absolutely devastating news about the sad loss of fellow tv presenter Micheal Mosley today [sic]. What a wonderfully sweet, kind, and gentle man he was. He did such a lot of good for public health with his TV shows and research. He was a curious investigator, producer, and presenter and often changed the conversation around many public health issues for the better. He will be sadly missed….love and thoughts to Clare and all of his family.”

Loose Women’s Kaye Adams also lamented his loss, saying, “So sad to hear the news about Dr Michael Mosley. We really have lost one of the good guys.”

Mosley’s co-presenter on “Trust Me, I’m A Doctor,” Dr. Saleyha Ahsan, described him as a “national treasure” and praised his ability to make science accessible to a wide audience.

While the body has not been officially identified as Mosley, the impact of his potential loss is already being deeply felt across the media and public spheres. (Metro)
