Charlie Puth marries Brooke Sansone at his family home in Montecito wedding: ‘It has always been you’

For Charlie Puth and Brooke Sansone, home is where the heart is.

The singer-songwriter, 32, and the public relations coordinator, 25, got married on Sept. 7 at Puth’s family house in Montecito, California, according to Vogue. Puth also confirmed the nuptials in an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Sansone told Vogue that the pair knew the family property would “offer the perfect backdrop” for their elegant nuptials.

“I wanted our wedding to marry tradition with modern unconventionality. I wanted each detail to feel relaxed yet perfectly, thoughtfully curated,” she explained. “Serving mini hotdogs on silver platters, for example, was more than just a fun detail. It was a reflection of my love for styles that blend the refined with the playful.”

The weekend’s festivities kicked off with an intimate rehearsal dinner at the San Ysidro Ranch, where President John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy once honeymooned. The couple and their guests dined at two long tables, decorated with candles, wildflowers and paper lanterns. Sansone wore a vintage 2001 Chanel trench from Happy Isles for the occasion, per Vogue.

After dinner, the party moved to the Puth residence, where drinks and desserts were served on the tennis court.

The next day, the couple said “I do” during a ceremony in the driveway of the home, in front of an olive tree, and exchanged nearly identical gold rings with inset diamonds. “We wanted the ceremony to be super simple, but memorable,” Sansone told Vogue, recalling, “Charlie and I were oddly relaxed, and at peace once we were both up there.”

She continued, “When I was standing up there I have never felt more connected to Charlie — it was like time stopped. Without realizing it, we had both included the same line in our vows: ‘It’s always been you.’ “

Sansone wore a custom Danielle Frankel strapless gown with a train. The design featured a structured silk wool twill boned bodice with leaf-shaped lace detailing at the neckline, as well as a draped linen organza skirt with hand-cut Chantilly lace floral appliqués, according to Vogue.

Puth went for an untraditional look, wearing a custom Bode double-breasted suit jacket with lace trim and loose-fitting cuffs. In a sentimental detail, the cuffs of his white shirt had the words “Us, Forever” embroidered in red thread.

Following the ceremony, everyone gathered for cocktails on the pool patio and then moved into a tent for the reception. Sansone swapped her formal gown for a Jil Sander dress, along with mesh kitten heels by Neous.

The newlyweds made their grand entrance to “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Babe” by Barry White and later shared their first dance to the classic “Jersey Girl” by Bruce Springsteen — a nod to the origins of their love story in New Jersey, per Vogue.

Sansone told the outlet the whole weekend felt “like a dream.”

“We can’t believe it’s all over, but we had the best night ever,” she said. “We were overjoyed having everyone we know and love in one room.”

In his Instagram post announcing his marriage, Puth shared a series of wedding photos and wrote a touching tribute to his wife. “I love you Brooke…I always have, with you I am my very best. I promise I’ll love you everyday in this life, and even more when we move on to our next. Brooke Ashley Sansone, And now you’ll be Brooke Ashley Puth. Thank you for making me the happiest man alive.”

He concluded the message: “It has always been you.”

Puth and Sansone got engaged in September 2023, when the “See You Again” singer flew to New York City during his 2023 tour to propose.

The two were first rumored to be dating after they were spotted together attending the Global Citizen Festival in New York City with family members in September 2022.

The following month, in October 2022, the four-time Grammy Award nominee shared that he and Sansone have known each other since childhood. He explained during an appearance on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show that Sansone is someone he grew up with in New Jersey. He noted to Stern how it’s been “nice” to have someone he has known for a “long time” by his side.

“She’s always been very, very nice to me,” Puth continued. “I would assume that when times inevitably are hard in the future — because what is life without valleys and peaks — she would be there for me as well.”

“Honestly, I get so scared of people now, like, I can’t really walk anywhere for whatever reason, and I think the more that happens, the more I just want to retreat to someone I’ve known for a long time,” he added.

While Puth shared snippets about his romance with Sansone in the fall of 2022, the couple did not go public with their relationship until December of that year, when Puth shared photo strips of the couple in a photo booth on Instagram.

Shortly after, Sansone joined Puth on the red carpet at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala in Los Angeles in February 2023.

The newly married pair have been a part of each other’s lives for a while. Puth spoke to Sansone during an Instagram Live in 2019 and affectionately referred to her as “Brookie.” Sansone’s father, Paul Sansone Jr., confirmed that the two families go way back. In a 2014 tweet, he wrote, “My friend’s son Charlie Puth on the red carpet at the Grammy’s. Very cool stuff and a great kid.”

Seven months after their first public appearance together in February, Puth popped the question. The couple announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post, with Puth writing in the caption, “I flew to New York to ask my best friend to marry me, and she said yes.”

The caption continued, “I am the happiest, best version of myself and it is all because of you Brookie. I love you endlessly forever and ever and ever.”

The couple shared a series of photos of themselves celebrating at Brooklyn pizza hotspot Lucali in Carroll Gardens. In the first picture in the carousel, Puth and Sansone could be seen snapping a selfie and holding glasses of white wine, with Sansone’s engagement ring visible on her left hand.
Puth also included a close-up look at the teardrop-shaped ring in the next photo, with Sansone’s hand captured as she reached for another slice of pepperoni pizza. (People)
