Marcos Alonso is determined to join Atletico Madrid this summer after Maurizio Sarri left him on the substitutes’ bench during Wednesday’s Europa League final win over Arsenal.
The 28-year-old was an integral part of the success Chelsea enjoyed under Antonio Conte but has found it harder to adapt to the tactical demands of the new Inter manager’s successor.
Emerson Palmieri was selected ahead of Alonso in Baku and provided the cross from which Olivier Giroud opened the scoring five minutes into the second half.
