Son of Chief Rotimi Williams, Ladi, has reportedly died of COVID-19 complication.

Chief Ladi Rotimi-Williams passed away at about 3 am at St Nicholas isolation hospital from Covid-19 complications. despite being vaccinated.

His death was confirmed by his younger brother, Chief Kayode Rotimi-Williams.

“I just lost my elder brother, Chief Ladi Rotimi-Williams (aged 74+) to Coronavirus. He passed on at 3am this morning,” he said. Read more

Worshippers electrocuted as electric cable falls on Lagos church (DailyTrust)

There was tragedy at El-Adonai Evangelical Church in Abule-Egba, Lagos, when an electric cable fell on worshippers during service.

Two adults and two teenagers were said to have been electrocuted in the incident.

Witnesses who do not want their names mentioned told Daily Trust that the church members were trying to fix the church’s flag while making way for some officials when they got electrocuted.

The flag’s pole was said to have touched the electrical cable which triggered the shock.

The identities of the victims are yet to be verified. Read more

The Awori descendants and Olowogbowo indigenes of Lagos have applauded Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the choice of Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello as the 9th Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU).

They described the selection process as very thorough, transparent and honest as instructed by the Governor.

The spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress, Lagos State Chapter, Joe Igbokwe, has accused members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra of invading his house in Nnewi, Anambra State, and setting it ablaze.

Igbokwe took to his Facebook page to lament. He wrote, “IPOB invaded my house in Nnewi about now. I am sure they raised down my house, given the jerry cans of petrol I saw being offloaded from their Sienna car via CCTV. To God be the glory. I am still alive.”

Igbokwe had consistently criticised the IPOB sit-at-home order in the last two months. Read more

A man convicted of impersonation and fraud has detailed how he spent the $88,521 he obtained from his victim.

The convict, Jamiu Isiaka, who was sentenced to 28 years for impersonating Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), Femi Adesina, was found guilty of swindling a South Korean, Keun Sig Kim, to the tune of $88,521 [N30m].

As reported by the News Agency of Nigeria, Isiaka, pleading his innocence, told the Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on Thursday that he used the money to conduct sacrifice for the petitioner.

“Part of the money was used to buy a vulture, elephant skin, elephant intestine, the skull of a lion and liver of a gorilla; all used as ingredients for the sacrifice,” NAN quoted him as saying. Read more

A lecturer at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, Mayowa David Adinlewa has been kidnapped.

The don was reportedly kidnapped along Akure-Ikere road while going to visit his family at Ikere in Ekiti state.

It was gathered that the kidnappers have contacted his wife through an audio conversation.

In the audio, Adinlewa was heard telling the wife that he was in the bush and that he trekkyed for hours without eating and drinking. Read more

Algeria accused its former colonial ruler France of “genocide” and recalled its ambassador from Paris in anger over what it said were “inadmissible” comments attributed to French President Emmanuel Macron.

The Algerian government also banned French military planes from its airspace on Sunday.

A bomb exploded Sunday at a mosque in Afghanistan’s capital, killing a “number of civilians,” according to a Taliban spokesman.

The bomb targeted the entrance of Eidgah Mosque in Kabul, the site of a memorial service for the mother of Taliban spokesman Zabihullah

Mujahid. He later tweeted that the attack had claimed civilian lives.

Emergency NGO, an Italian-funded hospital in Kabul, said on Twitter that it had taken in four people who were wounded by the bombing.

Plane crashes into building in Milan killing all 8 onboard (Metro)

A small private plane has crashed into a two-storey office building in Milan, killing all eight people on board.

The plane, which took off from Milan’s Linate city airport, was headed for the island of Sardinia, officials said. The crash occurred just outside a suburban metro station in San Donato Milanese.

Police said eight people died in the crash. They are thought to include the pilot, co-pilot and six passengers. According to reports, a boy was among those killed.

Neighbours reported hearing the sound of the aircraft hitting the building, which was empty at the time and being renovated. Read more

Former Chelsea, Leicester City and Fulham manager could be about to return to the Premier League once again as he has held talks to replace Xisco Munoz as Watford boss.

Munoz was sacked at Vicarage Road on Sunday, just seven games into the Premier League season and with the newly-promoted side having won two matches and picked up seven points.

Talks with Ranieri to replace Munoz have already begun, report Sky Sports, and he has been installed as an extremely short-priced favourite to be the next permanent manager for the Hornets.
