Christian Eriksen has warned his Manchester United teammates need to be more ruthless after beating Leicester.United defeated Leicester 1-0 on Thursday night and Jadon Sancho’s first-half goal proved to be the matchwinner.
United were never threatened by the hosts throughout the match and they looked comfortable and in control across the full 90 minutes.
Erik ten Hag’s side also beat Southampton 1-0 at the weekend and it was a similar type of performance at the King Power Stadium. United have failed to extend their advantage in both of their last two wins and that’s something Eriksen discussed.
Eriksen spoke after the game and he admitted the performance was ‘not beautiful’, while he also urged his teammates to be more ruthless after scoring in fixtures. Eriksen was named Man of the Match and he spoke to BT Sport after the final whistle.
“Yeah, I think from the start we had, we had a lot of things we needed to change and we have done that by winning,” Eriksen said. “It was not beautiful for 90 minutes but we have three wins. I think at the moment we’re winning 1-0 and keeping it tight.
“We obviously want to do better, but it’s a good start, we can take something from this and the three points are the most important thing. I think we should have [killed the game], it was similar to Southampton. We did very well until we scored.
“We have to keep momentum, we have to kill the game early, otherwise it’s going to be a tight game until the end like today. From now on the games just keep coming, Thursday to Sunday, we’re looking good and getting the points.”
United play Arsenal next on Sunday, September 4.
