In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Lagos Book & Art Festival (LABAF), the Committee for Relevant Art (CORA) will unveil its latest endeavour, the CORA Library & Resource Centre (L&RC), during a sneak peek event held at CORAVille in Freedom Park, Lagos Island.
The CORA L&RC, nestled within the creative hub of CORAVille, aims to be a beacon of literary enlightenment, targeting a broad audience, with a particular focus on students and youths. This new initiative is part of CORA’s commitment to advancing literacy and fostering creative expression.
The center is set to host a variety of programs, including workshops and seminars on writing, reading, speechmaking, and more. It will serve as a home for fellow artists and organizations dedicated to enriching national literacy.
The ambitious project has garnered widespread support from organizations and individuals, including Freedom Park, Chief Kayode Aderinokun (Chair of CORA Trustee), esteemed CORA Board members, subscribers, volunteers, and the Hawthornden Foundation.
With a strong emphasis on education as the key to enlightenment and empowerment, the CORA L&RC aims to contribute significantly to nation-building and human capital development. Regular literary activities, such as the CORA BOOKTrek and the Literacy Campaign project, will create direct connections between authors and their readers.
