Council boss organises free summer coaching for Badagry students

The Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government Area, Mr Olusegun Onilude has organised a free intensive summer coaching for school pupils in Primary 1 to Junior Secondary 3 in the council.

Mrs Sewede Pot-Balogun, the Council Supervisor Councillor for Education told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry on Wednesday that the coaching classes started on Monday, Aug.7 and would end on Aug.24.

Pot-Balogun said the coaching was organised to be a friendly, engaging and skill developing one.

She said that different activities like sports, arts and crafts and talent hunts would take place during the programme.

“The programme is designed to keep our children focused educationally and to impact more academic knowledge in them instead of wandering aimlessly at the crucial period.

“Adequate arrangements have been made by the council for qualified teachers to teach the children and engage them in extracurricular activities during the period,” she said.

She said the council chairman is an educationist par excellence who would stop at nothing to support education at all levels.

“The idea is to bring education closer, affordable and easy, so that students will not go outside the local government area,  seeking higher education,” she said.

She said  the coaching classes would be taking place concurrently at Local Authority Primary School, Ajara, Ansarudeen Primary School, Badagry,

“Others are St. Leo’s Primary School, Ikoga-Zebbe and Local Authority Primary School, Ajido all in Badagry local government area.

“The children’s extracurricular activities should be given adequate attention instead of over labouring their children with street trading which distracts them from educational activities.

“The intensive coaching is free, hence parents have no excuse,” she said.

Pot-Balogun urged parents to allow their children to benefit from the three-week intensive coaching classes. (NAN)
