Court jails man for Internet scam after FBI petitioned EFCC (Punch)

Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos State Special Offences Court, on Wednesday, sentenced one Joseph Ekemezie to one-year imprisonment for involvement in fraudulent Internet activities.

Ekemezie was arrested following a petition written by the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

He was first arraigned by the anti-graft agency on September 4, 2018, on six counts bordering on possession of a document containing false representation, but he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following a plea bargain application, the convict was re-arraigned on amended six counts bordering on possession of a document containing false representation. Read more
