Court orders remand of teenager over alleged motorcycle theft

A Badagry Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Tuesday ordered the remand 18-year-old, Ahmed Abubakar, in a correctional centre for stealing a TVS motorcycle valued at N480,000.

The Chief Magistrate, Fadahunsi Adefioye, remanded Abubakar after he pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing.

Adefioye ordered that Abubakar should be remanded in Awhajigoh Correctional Centre, Badagry, pending his sentence.

He adjourned the case until June 14 for fact and sentencing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec.20, 2022 at 10.00 a.m. at El-King Junction, Ibereko, Badagry.

Adeosun said that the defendant stole the TVS motorcycle belonging to the complainant, Mr Matthew Liasu.

He said that the complainant reported the case to the police, who traced the defendant and arrested him with the motorcycle.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.(NAN)
