Court remands labourer for allegedly defiling minor

A Badagry Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered that 51-year-old labourer, Olatunde Babatunde, be remanded in Awajighor Custodial Centre for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.

The Magistrate, Mr T.A. Popoola, who did not take the plea of Babatunde, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

Popoola adjourned the case until Sept. 6 for legal advice.

Babatunde, who resides in Ilogbo-Eremi are of Badagry, is charged with defilement.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Ayodele Adeosun told the court that Babatunde committed the offence on June 21 at 5.30p.m, at Igbanla, Badagry, Lagos.

Adeosun said Babatunde lured the girl into his room and defiled her.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 137 and 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.(NAN)
