Court remands man for alleged malicious damage

An Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State on Tuesday ordered that a 20-year-old man, Akeem Animashaun be remanded in a correction centre for allegedly destroying the windscreen and mirror of a truck belonging to 7Up bottling company.

Animashaun is charged with three counts of malicious damage, conduct likely and felony to wit theft.

Magistrate A. O. Ogbe adjourned the case until July 13 for fact and sentence.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that Animashaun allegedly committed the offence on June 14. at about 3:45 pm in Ikorodu garage area of Ikorodu.

Famuyiwa said Animashaun conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by using stone to break windscreen and mirror of a truck vehicle with Reg. No ABC 392 ZW.

Animashaun pleaded guilty to the first two counts and not guilty to third count charge of felony to wit theft.

The offence, she said, contravenes the provisions of sections 168, 350 and 406(2) of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015. (NAN)
