Court stops sale of late judge’s property as daughter sues church (Punch)
Justice Mohammed Madugu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Bwari, Abuja, has issued an interim injunction restraining Christ the King Catholic Church in Okene, Kogi State, and its parish priest, Reverend Father Ezekiel Awolumate, from selling properties belonging to the former President of the Abuja Customary Court of Appeal, late Justice Moses Bello.
The suit was instituted by Ann Eniyamire, daughter of the late justice, against the church and the priest. She alleged that she was shortchanged in the execution of her father’s will, which specified that his assets be divided among his wife and eight children using an 11.11 per cent sharing formula.
However, Eniyamire claims that Awolumate, the first defendant, altered the formula to 4.16 per cent, contrary to her father’s instructions. Read more
Air Force loses 5 officers in auto crash along Jos-Akwanga Road (Vanguard)
The Nigerian Air Force on Tuesday night announced the sad demise of 5 of its personnel in a fatal road accident which occured along the Jos – Akwanga road while on their way to Abuja.
A statement by the Director of NAF Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa made the sad development known
He said, “The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) deeply regrets to announce the loss of 5 of our gallant personnel who were involved in a tragic road traffic accident on 22 October 2024.

Tinubu meets NIPCO executives, commends investments in CNG sector (Nation)
President Bola Tinubu has praised NIPCO’s significant investments in Nigeria’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) sector during a meeting with the company’s executives at the State House in Abuja.
This was contained in a statement on Tuesday by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Auto crash claims 20 lives in Plateau (Tribune)
A fatal accident along the Jos to Abuja highway on Monday night tragically claimed the lives of 20 passengers and left others with severe injuries.
An eyewitness told the Nigerian Tribune that the incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. at Hawan Kibo in the Riyom Local Government Area when an 18-seater Toyota bus had a head-on collision with a trailer, causing multiple accidents along the highway.
The eyewitness reported that all the passengers in the bus were traveling from Adamawa State to Abuja, while the trailer was coming from the opposite direction. The bus collided with the articulated vehicle at a sharp bend. Read more

The Federal Workers Forum (FWF) has rejected the new minimum wage of N70,000, following the calculation of the consequential adjustment which translated to N40,000 increment on the salaries of federal workers in the country.
A communique issued at the end of virtual meeting held with members of the Forum, the federal workers lamented the untold hardship Nigerians were grappling with as a result of the anti people policies being introduced by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ‘s administration.

Oil marketer to Nigerians: Be ready to pay market price for petrol (DailyTrust)
Group Managing Director, Rainoil Ltd, Gabriel Ogbechie, has asked Nigerians to prepare to pay full market prices for petroleum products as a result of the full deregulation of the downstream sector.
After President Bola Tinubu announced that subsidy was gone, the pump price of petrol rose from N198 to N545 per litre and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) regulated pump prices at its outlets nationwide.
But two weeks ago, NNPCL exited its middleman role, forcing the pump price of fuel to sell between N998 and N1,250 per litre. Read more
Ondo: INEC says 55,859 PVCs collected ahead of poll (Channels)
The Independent National Electoral Commission announced on Tuesday that 55,859 Permanent Voter Cards were collected in the state ahead of the Ondo governorship election.
INEC, in a statement on Tuesday released by its National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun noted that the PVCs were collected over a five-day period, representing 62.2 percent of the 89,777 available cards.
The Ondo governorship election is scheduled for November 16, 2024. Read more
NUC grants Capital City University full operational licence (Tribune)
The Capital City University, Kano, has been granted a full licence to operate as a private university in Nigeria.
This was a sequel to the visitation of a panel of the National Universities Commission (NUC) to the university earlier this month.
A statement signed by the registrar, Hajiya Rakiya Bello Dangado, said the panel was impressed with the standard of the facilities and operational procedures of the new university, which started operation in 2021. Read more

Republic Pictures has picked up U.S. & Canadian rights to Alex Winter’s “Adulthood”.
Described as “darkly comic, modern-noir,” the film was penned by novelist Michael M.B. Galvin and stars Josh Gad (Gutenberg! The Musical!,) Kaya Scodelario (The Gentlemen), Billie Lourd (Booksmart), and Anthony Carrigan (Barry) alongside Winter.
The film follows a sister and brother, Megan and Noah, who are barely hanging on in present-day America. When they discover a dead body, long buried in their parents’ basement, the siblings are pulled back to the hometown they ran away from and into a rabbit hole of crime and murder. Read more
