Carpenter sets neighbour’s car ablaze over denial of sex (Nation)

Twenty-year-old carpenter, Wasiu Nojeem, on Wednesday appeared at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly setting ablaze the car of his neighbor, whose wife rebuffed his sex request.

The police charged Nojeem with two counts of breach of the peace and arson.

Prosecuting counsel Sergeant Michael Unah alleged that the defendant set a Mitsubishi GDI Space Wagon with registration number AGL 366 EC, valued at N500,000, property of Mr. Abubakar Akeem, ablaze. Read more

Pastor allegedly defrauds woman of N1m (Punch)

A 40-year-old Pastor, John Apeh, on Tuesday in Lagos appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding a woman of N1 million.

Apeh, who resides at Ipaja, Lagos, pleaded not guilty to two counts of stealing and obtaining money under false pretenses.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 28, at Anifowose, Ikeja, Lagos. Read more

Police arrest two for allegedly stealing panties (Nation)

The police in Lagos have arrested two men, Friday Emmanuel, 21, and Obiora Nwabueze, 29, for allegedly stealing women’s panties.

The suspects were nabbed by operatives of the Satellite Division on April 20, under the Mile Two Bridge, while fighting.

It was learnt that a fight had broken out between the men after Nwabueze failed to pay Emmanuel N30,000 agreed upon for him to steal the panties. Read more

Police arraign driver, other for theft of N7m rods (Punch)

Two men, Michael Falola and Adeleye Adeyanju, have been arraigned before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court for the theft of iron rods valued at N7 million.

PUNCH Metro gathered that a businessman, Nonso Agbacimalo, had employed Falola to help him transport 32 tons of 12mm iron rods from Lagos to Abuja.

It was learnt that Falola fraudulently diverted the iron rods and sold them to Adeyanju. Read more

Jobless man pleads guilty to stealing cable, others (Nation)

An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday remanded in prison an unemployed man, Peter Sunday, 32, after he pleaded guilty to stealing a cable wire, chemical and a machine, all worth N93,000.

Magistrate E. Kubeinje said the defendant should be kept in Ikoyi Prison, pending sentence.

Prosecuting Inspector Lucky Ihiehie had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 12 at Ajelogo, Mile 12, Ketu, Lagos. Read more

Driver steals company’s vehicle over threat of sacking (Punch)

Operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, Lagos, have arrested a driver, Abah Ali, for allegedly stealing the vehicle of his employer.

It was gathered that Ali was employed by a company, Gharsu Service Limited, in July 2018, as a driver to the Chief Operating Officer.

PUNCH Metro gathered that 24 days after resumption, the suspect made away with the company’s Toyota Highlander. Read more

Man gets six months imprisonment for vandalising equipment (Nation)

AN Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos has sentenced a 28-year-old man, Timothy Jacob, to six months imprisonment on a three-count charge of conspiracy, willful and unlawful damage and attempted theft of armored cables, belonging to Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).

According to EKEDC, the vandal was apprehended by Lekki Phase 1 security guards while cutting an armored cable at 21 Hopunu Wusu Street, Lekki Phase 1 on April 14, 2019 and was handed over to men of Nigeria Police Force at Mobalaji Johnson Police Post in Lekki, Lagos for further interrogation and investigation.

EKEDC General Manager, Corporate Communications, Godwin Idemudia, said Jacob confessed to committing the crimes he was accused of and named one Shedrach as his partner.

“A man buys the cables from us” the vandal also revealed. A man hunt is still ongoing for the said accomplices who are still at large. Read more

Trader defrauds man of N3.6m, uses money for parents’ burial (Punch)

A Lagos-based trader, Abraham Epelle, has been arrested by the state police command for his alleged involvement in a visa fraud worth N3.6 million.

Epelle reportedly collected the sum from one Ikechukwu Uzor, a resident of Ajangbadi area of the state, to help the man process a South Korean visa, a flight ticket and accommodation in the Asian country.

City Round learnt that Epelle used the sum for his parents’ burial and procured a fake visa for Uzor. Read more

Man charged with beating up policeman (Nation)

A 42-year-old man, Armstrong Ibe, on Tuesday appeared at a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly beating up a police sergeant while on duty in a hotel.

Ibe, whose address was not given, is charged with assault, breach of the peace and felony.

Prosecuting Sergeant Ayodele Adeosun alleged that the defendant committed the offence on April 12, at about 8:30pm, at New Planet Hotel, Aka Road, Ajangbadi, Lagos. Read more
