Danny Drinkwater set to stay at Chelsea despite Frank Lampard deciding to sell midfielder (Metro)

Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater looks set to stay at Stamford Bridge this season as the club are yet to receive an offer for the 29-year-old.

Drinkwater made just one appearance last season and has been told he’s surplus to requirements in west London.

The midfielder was signed in 2017 for a fee of around £35million but has failed to impress for the Blues and the club had hoped to get his £100,000-a-week wages off the books.

Frank Lampard reportedly informed Drinkwater of his decision on Chelsea’s tour and Drinkwater accepted his future lay elsewhere. Read more
