In the last three Grand Slams of 2019, David Goffin has lost to a member of the ‘Big Three’.
Defeats to Rafael Nadal in Paris and Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon saw Goffin lose to the eventual champion. Roger Federer will hope that run extends after humbling the Belgian 6-2 6-2 6-0 to reach the quarter-finals of the US Open.
The three giants of the sport – who have won a combined 54 major titles – have shared the last 11 Slams and if one of them gets their hands on the title in New York, it will have been three years since a player outside the ‘Big Three’ claimed a Grand Slam win. Read more
