David Luiz has stated that his decision to leave Chelsea and join Arsenal this month was motivated by a desire to take on a new challenge.
The 32-year-old spent six-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge – with a two-season stint at PSG sandwiched in between – winning six major honours in total with the Blues.
Luiz played a key role for Chelsea last season, playing 36 times in the Premier League and starting in their Europa League final win over Arsenal in May under previous boss Maurizio Sarri.
It was reported that Luiz decided to leave Chelsea after failing to be given assurances of a first-team football under Frank Lampard and he suggested that played a role in his decision to move. Read more
