One word that best describes Lagos Island is ‘pretentious’. Lagos Island tries to come across as sane, as the upgraded Lagos. It tries to pass off as the “livable” part of Lagos. They even went and painted their danfos green and white. Green and white! Danfo that’s not yellow and black is that one danfo? Imagine a painting of traffic in a busy city street that’s full of white and green taxis and the artist captions it “WELCOME TO LAGOS.” Which Lagos? Abomination! Read more

Women group endorses Ambode’s second term bid (Nation)

Impressed by his sterling performance to enhance the well-being of Lagosians as well as improvement of infrastructural development of the state, a group, Ojokoro Concerned Women Forum has endorsed Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for a second term. At a colourful ceremony held at the Ojokoro All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat, President of the group, Alhaja Fatima Balogun said Ambode met the people’s expectation.

She said Ojokoro community benefitted immensely from the administration, noting that the people would remain grateful to him for the quality projects he executed in the community. According to her, if the first term of Ambode could be so remarkable, the performing governor should continue. “You don’t change a winning team, because one good turn deserves another.” Read more

What exactly is happening with the land use charge?The Lagos State Government wants to increase Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from the N340bn it made last year to N720bn this year. That is an extra N380bn or a 47% increase. So, to hit their target they are increasing taxes, levies and charges. Policemen kill 16-year-old Lagos pupil while chasing protesters (Punch)

One of the bullets reportedly fired by policemen attached to the Ijora Badia Police Division, Lagos State, has killed a 16-year-old pupil at Randle Secondary School, Apapa, Emmanuel Chukwu. The Senior Secondary School 2 pupil was said to be in front of his parents’ residence on Fadaini Street, Ijora Badia, watching some protesters when he was hit by the bullet. Punch Metro gathered that some youths of the area had stormed the station around 8am on Sunday to protest against the rescue of a suspected female kidnapper by policemen. Read more

Scores escape death as tanker falls on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway (Punch)Barely two weeks after a tanker loaded with 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol fell at Owode-Iyana Ilogbo axis along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, another tanker also loaded with the same litres of petrol fell on the road early this morning at Singer Area, Sango-Ota.
