For the benefits to Lagos, the group has strongly advocated for a Public Private Partnership (PPP) and the need for the regulator, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Federal Ministry of Aviation, to give the necessary support and approvals for this project.

Blink-182 reuniting classic lineup with Tom DeLonge for 2023 world tour, new single (Billboard)

Blink-182 are getting the band back together. On Tuesday (Oct. 11) the pop-punk trio announced a reunion with former singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge for a 2023 global tour and upcoming single. After twice leaving the band — in 2005 and then again in 2014 — DeLonge is back in the fold alongside singer/bassist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker for an upcoming Live Nation-promoted tour touted as their biggest international trek ever.

The tour is slated to kick off on March 11 in Tijuana, Mexico at the Imperial GNP festival and keep the band on the road in South America and Mexico through April 12 before shifting to North America on May 4 with a show at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota; those dates will run through a July 16 gig in Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena and then move on to Europe in September and Australia/New Zealand in early 2024.

Most exciting for fans, though, is word that a new single, “EDGING,” is coming on Friday (Oct. 14), commemorating the trio’s first time in the studio in 10 years. In keeping with the barely-contained enthusiasm for the get-together, the eternally youthful Take Off Your Pants and Jacket stars released a promotional video for the tour in which a series of fans vow that they would “do anything to make them come”… to their hometown, is what they mean. Man Utd and Arsenal set to make millions from FIFA player payments during World Cup (Mirror)

Premier League clubs will make $10,000 (£9,033) per player per day during the World Cup – with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United set to make several million should their stars go far in Qatar.

The payments are part of FIFA’s Club Benefits Programme, which the governing body says is to recognise the contribution of clubs towards the tournament. In total $209m (£188.8m) has been dedicated towards the programme, which benefited more than 400 clubs across 63 nations at the previous World Cup.

FIFA said that compensation will be paid to all clubs for which a player has played in the two years prior to the World Cup – meaning that Gabriel Jesus’ participation for Brazil – should he make the squad – would benefit Arsenal and Manchester City. FIFA’s total fund for the World Cup is worth about $700m (£632.3m) and the federation of the eventual winners will earn $50m (£45m).

All 32 nations will get $10m from FIFA for participating in the group stage having received $2m to pay for pre-tournament camps and other preparation. Read more

Kylian Mbappe Liverpool hope revived after report of superstar’s Paris Saint-Germain unrest (Liverpool Echo)

Kylian Mbappe wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain as early as January, according to a new report, which claims Liverpool could be his ‘only option’.

The World Cup winner confirmed that he held transfer talks with Liverpool before deciding to stay at the French club this summer, signing an improved deal to remain in the French capital. But a new report from Spanish outlet Marca, claims that Mbappe, 23, is already planning an escape route out of Paris and could even move on in the January transfer window.

Marca claims that PSG agreed to allow the France international to leave in the summer, but would not allow him to move to European champions Real Madrid, before he eventually signed a new contract. They also claim that the relationship between Mbappe and PSG is ‘completely broken’ and given their refusal to let their star man join Madrid, a move to Liverpool ‘could be the only option’. Haas confirm 2 FP1 appearances for Pietro Fittipaldi (PlanetF1)

Pietro Fittipaldi will fulfil the Haas requirement to run a rookie driver in FP1 at two grands prix this season, Mexico and Abu Dhabi being the venues.

The 26-year-old, born in Miami, has tested for Haas since 2019 and also fulfilled the reserve driver role for the last two seasons. Read more

Allowing Novak Djokovic to play Australian Open ‘would be a slap in the face’- Andrews (Eurosport)

It would “be a slap in the face for those people in Australia who did the right thing” to allow Novak Djokovic to play at the 2023 Australian Open, says Australia’s shadow home affairs minister Karen Andrews.

Djokovic had his visa cancelled and was deported ahead of this year’s Australian Open owing to his Covid vaccination status. Usually, under those circumstances, he would be banned from returning to Australia for three years.

The cancellation of his visa means he could be banned from returning to the country for three years.

However, the Serbian, who has won the Australian Open on nine occasions, has expressed a desire to compete at Melbourne Park next year. The 2023 Australian Open takes place from January 16-29. A change in government means it is not inconceivable that he be afforded the opportunity to go for a 10th title. Read more
