Dr Ngozi Anyaegbunam passes away at 67

Renowned Nigerian journalist and media consultant Dr. Ngozi Fidelia Anyaegbunam has died following a brief illness, according to a statement by her son, Rocky C. Agbese, on behalf of the family.

Born in October 1957 in Damaturu, present-day Yobe State, Dr. Anyaegbunam broke barriers as the first female editor at Champion Newspaper before joining The Daily Times, where she authored Waziri Ibrahim: Politics Without Bitterness.

She distinguished herself as one of the few female journalists to interview two sitting Nigerian presidents – Olusegun Obasanjo and Muhammadu Buhari.

Following her successful editorial career, she established herself as a media management consultant for various blue-chip companies. “A dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend, Auntie Ngozi will be sorely missed by all who came across her and were impacted by her larger than life presence,” the family statement read.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the family.
